Painting: A Mural For A BBT Shop, ChaYuan, Vancouver, B.C.

 

The last time I painted a mural was years ago, like high school long time ago. So landing this project was for experience and partially for fun. 

There was a lot of delay in getting this up on the wall as the project started just before the pandemic lockdown. I could have went into the shop to paint this on my own, but then the store owner would have had to trust me (a stranger) with some security sensitive things. So we agreed on continuing when the restrictions lifted a little.

I really enjoyed working on wall size piece. Just because of the freedom. I painted part the landscape of Vancouver mountain scenery and really wondered if people who looked at the piece would get the reference, even if it was painted in a certain style. I applied a lot of my skills from watercolor painting into color mixing and strokes for this mural which allowed me to really push through and get this done within a few number of days.
